Need to Know

Patient Resources

I'm Dr. Matthew McLeod, founder of Seaport Plastic Surgery here in Savannah. Before you ever sit down across from me in a consult, I wanted to build a place where you could ask the questions you're actually curious about — not the sanitized version, the real one. The question you've typed into a search bar at midnight. The one you're a little embarrassed to say out loud. The one where you just want a straight answer instead of a sales pitch.

That's what this section is.

Every article here is written the way I'd actually answer you in the room — in my own words, question by question, covering the things patients ask me most: what a procedure actually involves, how much it's really going to hurt, what recovery looks like beyond the vague “a few weeks,” and where I genuinely differ from the way a lot of this is typically done. I'd rather you walk into your consultation already informed than spend that first visit on the basics.

A few things you'll notice running through everything here

I don't believe in one technique for every patient. A breast lift, a tummy tuck, a facelift — the amount of correction I recommend is built around your specific anatomy at your exam, not a size, a package, or whatever happens to be trending. Sometimes that means less surgery than you expected to need. Occasionally it means more. Either way, I'll tell you plainly which one it is, rather than defaulting to whatever sounds most impressive.

I also don't treat surgery as a single, isolated event. Real results usually come from thinking about the whole picture — volume, tissue laxity, skin quality, and how procedures work together, whether that's fat grafting alongside a facelift, Renuvion paired with liposuction, or the areas patients don't think to ask about until they're standing in front of a mirror months later. I try to raise those conversations before you have to.

And recovery matters to me as much as the surgery itself. I use an enhanced recovery approach across my surgical practice — multimodal pain control, minimizing reliance on narcotics, and getting you back to your life faster and more comfortably than the old playbook most patients still expect.

What you'll find in this section

Breast procedures — augmentation, lift, reduction, revision. Body contouring — tummy tuck, body lift, liposuction, brachioplasty, gynecomastia. Facial procedures — facelift, blepharoplasty, fat grafting, CO2 resurfacing. Mommy makeover and the postpartum concerns that actually drive it. And yes, the more private conversations too, like labiaplasty, handled with the same directness as everything else.

None of it replaces an actual consultation — your anatomy, your health history, and your goals are specific to you, and that conversation still has to happen in person. But if you read through this and walk in already understanding the real tradeoffs, the honest recovery timelines, and the questions worth asking, we'll spend our time together on what actually matters: building the plan that's right for you.

Welcome to Seaport. Let's get into it.

— Dr. Matthew McLeod

Procedures

Facelift

Facelift consults have changed in the last few years. Patients used to ask general questions about lifting and tightening.

Liposuction
If you’ve got specific, stubborn areas that diet and exercise genuinely haven’t touched — and you want a result that’s actually planned around your body rather th...
Body Lift

Losing a significant amount of weight — through bariatric surgery, through GLP-1 medications, through years of genuine work — is supposed to feel like the finish line.

CO2 Laser
Two patients can walk out of two different appointments both having had “CO2 laser resurfacing” and had genuinely different experiences and results. Understanding why is worth five...
Migraine Surgery
Most of my patients who ask about this didn’t know it existed. They’ve lived with migraines for years, cycled through neurologists, tried preventive medications, abortive medicatio...
Blepharoplasty

“I look tired” is the phrase I hear more than almost any other in eye consults, usually followed by “even when I’m not.”

Breast Lift

Patients almost always walk in asking for “a lift,” and about half the time, a lift alone isn’t actually the right answer.

Tummy Tuck

Patients ask for a “tummy tuck” more often than they ask for what a tummy tuck actually does.

Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia is one of the most common reasons men end up in a plastic surgeon’s office, and one of the least talked about outside of it.

Brachioplasty
Arms come up constantly in consults, usually with a little self-deprecating joke first — “I haven’t worn a sleeveless top in a decade,” or “I wave and it keeps waving after I...
Labiaplasty
This is usually the procedure patients bring up last in a consult, after we’ve already talked through everything else on their list — sometimes almost as an afterthought, som...
Facial Fat Grafting
Cheeks that used to have a soft, round fullness start looking flatter. Temples hollow out. The under-eye area develops a shadow that has nothing to do with sleep. That’s volu...

If you’ve got permanent grooves in your shoulders, migraines that trace back to your neck, or you’ve quietly stopped doing activities you used to enjoy because of the ...
Mommy Makeover
“Mommy makeover” might be the most misleading term in plastic surgery. It sounds like a single, pre-packaged procedure — like there’s one operation called Mommy Makeover that...

Mommy Makeover Post-op

A mommy makeover combines tummy tuck, breast surgery, and liposuction into one operation, so recovery is longer than any single procedure on its own.

Facial Fat Grafting Post-op
Facial fat grafting uses a small amount of your own fat, harvested from one area and reinjected into your face, so your recovery involves two treatment sites on slightly different ...

Labiaplasty is one of the most common procedures we perform, and my team and I are well practiced in guiding patients through this recovery.

Tummy Tuck Post-op
A tummy tuck is one of the most transformative procedures I perform, though it carries a longer recovery than some other body procedures because of the muscle repair involved. ...
Breast Lift Post-op

A breast lift is a procedure I love performing, and the recovery matters just as much as the surgery itself. This guide walks you through what to expect, week by week.

Liposuction Post-op
This guide covers what to expect after liposuction, and, for most patients, the Renuvion skin tightening I typically pair with it, so you know what’s normal and when to call ...
